Help Us Tell The Story of Nonprofits in California

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

November 30th, 2018

Tell us what’s going on in your organization so we can update the groundbreaking 2014 Causes Count report on the economic and social impact of California’s nonprofit sector! That study revealed a few surprising things including, for example, that nonprofits employ one in 15 California residents. CalNonprofits and The Nonprofit Institute at the University of San Diego are again collaborating to update the report and dive deeper into areas like government funding. Can we count on you to complete the 10-15 minute survey? Click here to get started, and please share it with leaders of other nonprofits. Responses are due by Friday December 21st.

Prizes! If you choose to share your contact information at the end of the survey, you will be entered to win one of 15 prizes: iPad (1 winner), Unicorns Unite: How Foundations and Nonprofits can Forge Epic Partnerships by Vu Le, Jane Leu, and Jessamyn Shams-Lau (2 winners), A Nonprofit’s Guide to Human Resources by Jan Masaoka (2 winners), and $10 gift card to Starbucks (10 winners.)

Your individual responses will be kept confidential; all data will be reported in aggregate and no individual names or organizational identities will be shared. We will combine your responses with data from IRS Forms 990, government funding data, Department of Labor data, economic metrics, and a survey of California residents to tell the story of California’s nonprofit sector. Your responses will help inform policymakers, philanthropic leadership, and the public about what we do and why it’s important.

If you have any questions about this survey or the study, please contact Dr. Mary Jo Schumann, Director of Research at mjschumann@sandiego.edu or 619-260-7649.

About the Author

  • Founded in 1984 as a subsidiary of the California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits), CalNonprofits Insurance Services was established during a time of diminishing insurance options for nonprofits. One of the driving reasons for establishing the association was to use the collective influence of the sector to secure more stable and quality insurance. We have developed, and are known for, our wide spectrum of services reflecting expertise in both the insurance and nonprofit sectors, our superior customer service, and our development of exclusive insurance products, including a highly successful dental and vision trust. We insure more than 1,200 nonprofit organizations throughout California and we are the only California brokerage specializing in insurance for nonprofits. Our clients range from newly established nonprofits all the way to venerable organizations with multiple locations statewide.
